I would like to offer my highest recommendation for Tony Johnstone’s Spin and Upset Training / CFI Spin Endorsement. If you are a pilot and have never taken the time to learn how to recognize and recover from a spin or other upset and out of control situations you are taking undue risk. According to a 2018 FAA fact sheet “Inflight loss of control – mainly stalls – accounts for the largest number of GA fatal accidents. Although the fatal accident rate is declining, last year (FY17) 347 people still died in 209 general aviation fatal accidents.”
How much time and money are YOU willing to spend to prevent yourself from being one of these statistics? I can guarantee that taking Tony’s course is a key preventive measure toward that end. This course is appropriate and necessary for all pilots, but If you’re already a CFI it is almost inexcusable to not have this type of training and knowledge. If you’re a new CFI, why not get the needed training and endorsement the right way?
Tony’s one and a half hour aerodynamics brief was one of the best refreshers I’ve had in over thirty five years of flying fighters and airliners. The flight itself was one of my best training flights EVER. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to the same.
